CARRY ON is an interactive Augmented Reality art project by Sharon Paz dealing with past experiences of migration, forced and chosen. MUSEUMSVEREIN SYNAGOGE STAUDERNHEIM<\/p>

The former synagogue in Staudernheim was vandalized in 1938, but not set on fire as it directly bordered neighboring houses. During the Nazi era, the building was abused as a Wehrmacht Casino and home of the Hitler Youth, later in 1945, it was temporarily used as a poorhouse, garage, and finally as a junkyard.

It was Raymond Wolff (1946 New York \u2014 2021 Berlin), the son of a Jewish family from Staudernheim, who took care of the battered building. Growing up in the USA, he avoided being drafted into the Vietnam War by fleeing to the home country of his parents. Here he traced, researched, and preserved lost stories, the forgotten fates of Staudernheim\u2019s Jewish community and founded the \u201cMuseumsverein Synagoge Staudernheim e.V.\u201d.

We dedicate the project to Raymond Wolff, who died in the midst of its making.

CARRY ON is an interactive Augmented Reality art project by Sharon Paz dealing with past experiences of migration, forced and chosen. MUSEUMSVEREIN SYNAGOGE STAUDERNHEIM<\/p>

The former synagogue in Staudernheim was vandalized in 1938, but not set on fire as it directly bordered neighboring houses. During the Nazi era, the building was abused as a Wehrmacht Casino and home of the Hitler Youth, later in 1945, it was temporarily used as a poorhouse, garage, and finally as a junkyard.

It was Raymond Wolff (1946 New York \u2014 2021 Berlin), the son of a Jewish family from Staudernheim, who took care of the battered building. Growing up in the USA, he avoided being drafted into the Vietnam War by fleeing to the home country of his parents. Here he traced, researched, and preserved lost stories, the forgotten fates of Staudernheim\u2019s Jewish community and founded the \u201cMuseumsverein Synagoge Staudernheim e.V.\u201d.
